Wait for something good

In the beginning, there was a little girl who knew her life was destined for big things. Bigger than here and now. Time brought nothing but opportunity and progress. It was on her side. Destined...ordained...fortuitously so. Where was the princess to go? India. The deep colors...the traditions...eastern culture. Completely out of the comfort zone. Deep poverty was something she had to face. And imagining a life without love was incomprehensible. She made it her mission in life. Love is best multiplied. Wait for it...it will find you. In India, she knows that great things await her. It's in her bones, it's of her being. This conviction cannot be suppressed. "This heart," says the Princess, "cannot be tamed."

Who's the leader of the club ?

The dark and looming fish swam right in front of my face as I jumped, startled in my seat. "Wow! How can I get in there with them?" I thought to myself. I remember my first time at the Living Seas in Disney World very vividly. I was enamored with another world that I knew nothing of. It would take me an additional twenty years to step into that world.

It was eerie, I finally entered "backstage" in Walt Disney World as an honorary cast member this October. With my arm around my little brother, Matt, he and I cautiously walked into a world we had only dreamed of. We started with a "backlot tour" of the facility where we learned all the fun and interesting factoids (Did you know that the EPCOT ball could fit inside of the Living Seas aquarium?). We then were allowed into some areas very few people get to see, like the living seas ballroom area where banquets and wedding receptions were held. After giving our sizes for dive equipment, we were given a dive briefing and they led us to the locker rooms where our wetsuits and booties "magically" appeared into lockers. Once we all got changed into our wetsuits, we were paraded around inside of the Seas like celebrities where we took photos and then rode the Nemo ride.

Finally, the time we all anticipated had arrived. Nine coworkers and myself stepped into the dive area where we were greeted by a divemaster and a videographer. Our gear was all set up for us. Conditions were a perfect 140 feet of visibility with no current. We stepped into a chilly 78 degrees (we were wimpy) and went down.  We were promptly recognized by the plethora of sea life at the bottom. Sand tiger sharks, eagle rays, sting rays, turtles, and Caribbean fish were curious and very comfortable to be so close.  Finally we swam past the glass to the other side of the aquarium where we played with the people on the other side, waving, doing tricks, and just having fun. The kids faces were so amazing to see. Then I remembered back to when I was that child standing on the other side and I felt so connected.

There are few times in life where I have felt like I had a dream truly come true the way I did that day.  Not only did that happen, but I got to share it with friends, and most importantly, my own brother.  What better place and time for dreams to come true than Disney? Perfection.
